Kolkata, more lovingly called the City of
Joy is a place you must visit at least once (I recommend multiple visits
though) if you stay in India. This place has something for everybody. If you
are not already mesmerized by the architectural beauty of the city, the endless
misthis here are sure to win your heart. Making a list of just five
things to do when you’re in Kolkata is a nearly impossible task, but I’m trying
my best to keep the list to the bare minimum.

Victorian Architecture
The
Victorian Age, the period between mid 1800s to the beginning of 1900’s, is
significant because of the sense of dizzying change it is characterized
by. This era witnessed some form of
change in every imaginable sphere of life- technology, literature, art, woman
rights, religious beliefs, fashion, social structure et al. In this era some of
the most significant technological advancements and engineering marvels were
made. With the invention of the steam engine the pace of the spread of change
increased exponentially. People, goods, ideas were no longer restricted.
