Five things to do in Kolkata

Kolkata, more lovingly called the City of Joy is a place you must visit at least once (I recommend multiple visits though) if you stay in India. This place has something for everybody. If you are not already mesmerized by the architectural beauty of the city, the endless misthis here are sure to win your heart. Making a list of just five things to do when you’re in Kolkata is a nearly impossible task, but I’m trying my best to keep the list to the bare minimum.

Victorian Architecture

The Victorian Age, the period between mid 1800s to the beginning of 1900’s, is significant because of the sense of dizzying change it is characterized by.  This era witnessed some form of change in every imaginable sphere of life- technology, literature, art, woman rights, religious beliefs, fashion, social structure et al. In this era some of the most significant technological advancements and engineering marvels were made. With the invention of the steam engine the pace of the spread of change increased exponentially. People, goods, ideas were no longer restricted.
