The joy and agony of being parents

“It’s not always easy being her daughter..”, She said.
“Sometimes, I think, it’s hard no matter who’s daughter you are”.

We always begin by loving our parents as kids and then slowly as we grow, our world expand and begin to demand more space, some amount of collision is bound to happen.

Children are born with new eyes. They see things parents have shifted to their subconscious and don’t really think about that much. Parents, on the other hand, are holding up a universe together that they have to pass on to their kids. Traditions, culture, knowledge, social experience, stereotypes and conditioning.

A bit of happiness

It was the evening of my 20th birthday. A day well spent  amid surprises and laughs, I surely was thrilled to core, another reason why I gladly agreed when my Mother called me up to join her at a temple once I was done with college. Not that I am an atheist, but temples get to see me just occasionally. After contently thanking God for the day and mumbling my usual prayer, and making all sorts of offerings on her instructions, I left with mom. Thanks to the unusually less crowd, I felt good even after a tiring day. Unknown to me, there still was something to add to that feeling. As I waited for mom, holding a big carton on my scooty, containing my gift of the day, a giant Teddy, I watched a young boy of around 10 approaching her. As he held out his hand and started speaking something to her, it became obvious he was a tramp. I quickly reached up to her, asking to rather buy him something to eat than give money. Seemed like that wasn’t even needed. She was already in the process. It’s a mother’s heart, after all. In fact, she added a bit more to her gesture, and asked if he would like a plate of chaat or an ice-cream. Going by my usual experience, I assumed he’ll refuse both and ask for the money. But as I saw the child nod for an ice-cream and eat it with pure glee, something pricked me inside  and I could feel my eyes welling up.  And that moment I knew I had actually lived my birthday. Neither the cake I had savoured, nor that big teddy, but instead this sight was the perfect end to the day.

Is India traveling more now

India always has had an admirable desire and a random acceptance towards change & growth. No matter how much it resists or portrays as to resist from, there has always been a certain trend plunging towards some Newness. Chasing Exposure.

And such similar newness is craved for & experienced via disparate walks of life. One such happy walk is travelling. In fact travelling is one hugely impacting mechanism which not only brings people the unknown but also freshens them up with a certain energy to live. To live & to love.

Wedding Bells

There is never too late to get married but too soon if you get hitched with Mr. Wrong.
It is the transformation one awaits and beliefs it to be immensely beautiful. When with each and every step you take forward there is a hope of having a heavenly future in accordance with past and present.
A relationship which would complement the comfort ability levels same as butter and a slice of bread. No matter how frustrating you turn, he’ll love you in his n number of different yet special ways.
When that one *Darling* in his voice can change your entire mood.

There are moments in life that completely baffle us and make us believe in the power of destiny. These happy accidents turn and twist our lives towards better things.

Strangers unite in this life in a whirlwind of such happy accidents. The accident of finding something truly cherished is defined by the word serendipity. And no two people define the meaning of this word better when decides to get married.
The events that will transpire when you meet your other half will make you complete - these will be interwoven silver filaments of fate and chance. Fate and chance that will work miraculously to unite soul mates destined to find each other, destined to collide.

Maybe it was destiny, maybe it was fate or what was written in the stars. It just had to be, in perfect sync with the universe. In the right place, at the right time, in the right spirit.

Two lives, two hearts, two souls, separate paths but one life-changing “I LIKE YOU”.
The beginning of a realization, when they knew they could never let each other go again, at least till

That’s what we Indians do, we simply love our meals and that just adds to the taste and aroma. The variety of food in India is simply amazing. Thus, travelling across this great country will definitely suffice to satisfy your taste buds! Believe it or not, tasty food makes you happy and helps you enjoy moments in your life. 7 reasons why Indians do not travel solo

I am not much of a traveller neither do I dig travelling . I am afraid of heights, water and things which can kill you.

The childhood memories include of going to Haridwar , Mussourie , Dehradun as tourists , clicking pictures , eating too much everywhere and coming back tired.
Sometimes we would go to other cities also to attend weddings of cousins whom I have not seen after that.

Travelling alone or Solo is a very common concept abroad and now Indians are also going abroad solo but we do not see that within our country.
In my opinion these are the reasons Indians don’t travel Solo within india:-

The rise of Reality TV

The year 2013 is gone by. We have already witnessed the award season of Bollywood and we have witnessed the rise of singers in the gone by year. Ask any random chick about her favorite song from 2013 and she will flit between ‘Tum Hi Ho’ or ‘Sanwar Loon’; if you can decipher the hidden meaning then you have witnessed the rise of reality shows in India.

Victorian Architecture

The Victorian Age, the period between mid 1800s to the beginning of 1900’s, is significant because of the sense of dizzying change it is characterized by.  This era witnessed some form of change in every imaginable sphere of life- technology, literature, art, woman rights, religious beliefs, fashion, social structure et al. In this era some of the most significant technological advancements and engineering marvels were made. With the invention of the steam engine the pace of the spread of change increased exponentially. People, goods, ideas were no longer restricted.

The weaker sex

Twenty sixth January 2014 dawned, and sun unfolded its affectionate wings to embrace every being in the national capital of Delhi, deprived of its warmth for the past few days.

Flipping through the pages of a national daily,in the back drop of the fun and frolic of the republic day parade, my eyes ceased at a headline in the editorial..I felt as if the commemoration was ambiguous, sprinkled and immersed in plentiful instances of the fragmentation of the above mentioned tenets.
It  talked about self proclaimed justice delivering  associations , in remote villages of a state. A girl given the punishment of being married to a man ,almost twice her age, and the reason? her father was caught eveteasing the daughter of a landlord. Since the father couldn’t afford the monetary penalty, the onus fell on the daughter to bear upon her, the severity. Who were these people who promulgated this justice? Why a daughter is seeked to exhibit upon herself the punishment rendered as a remedial measure to the wrong done by her father?

Celebrations

India has been a land of festivities, of colors, of sounds, of love, of joy, of good and the bad and what not. For a person, who belongs to a family, which has essentially been an amalgamation of culture in itself, I have developed my opinions on celebrations, its reasons, its poignance and its consequences.

Just to affirm, here I am not  dealing with "who celebrates without reason" but "who celebrates on almost anything they can". We, the Indians. When you talk about just another reason, you can add in the list anything but it will still be a reason to celebrate.

Land of celebrations

India is a land of festivals. Yes, we Indians love to celebrate. We have a positive outlook towards things and thus we celebrate. We love making people happy and that is the reason we celebrate. We believe in sharing joy with others, so we celebrate. India is blessed with festivals of different types, each having its own significance and importance. We have festivals for different seasons of the year. Festivals that every Indian celebrates with immense gaiety and fervor! We don’t make lame excuses for celebrating. Instead, we have reasons to celebrate. Reason as they say, is the stolid/logical cousin of excuse! Apparently, very few countries have as many festivals as we have. We are always full of zeal and zest when it’s about celebrations. Life is all about enjoying moments, so there is no reason not to celebrate. We often hear people saying that we Indians just need a reason to celebrate. No, we don’t even need that! We already have a lot of reasons to celebrate and life itself is a reason to celebrate.
