Bombay Diaries 5: Going Home

When I was young, I always had an urge to leave home and see the world. You could think of it as a teenage rebellion and trust me, I was just super eager to leave home. And now, when I am away from home, I cannot even justify even a single reason of how somebody could be happy being away from family. I haven’t been home for the past 5 months and I keep adding things to my “To-Do List” when I get to go home. But living in Bombay is worth waiting for.

Bombay was a dream. And these 2 months were exactly like I was living a dream. Everyday felt like a blessing and I felt lucky to be living the day here. The hectic work hours, train and bus journeys, the heat, the sweat and the tiredness; I enjoyed every bit of it. I went to the hottest of the lounges Bombay has to offer, visited some of the most amazing offices and met so many people from so many different companies. This internship made me do so many different things that I never thought I was capable of doing. We bluffed the security guys at the corporate offices, talked to some of the highest officials of so many well-known companies, ran like crazy to catch buses and once landed up at a very strange and scary place. So much for the internship.
This short stint at Bombay would never have been so much fun if my cousin brother would not have been there. Lucky for me, he got a job in Bombay just exactly when I started my internship. We went for movies, lunches, went to the marine drive late in the night and one went to the Worli- Bandra sea link and Worli Sea Face at 2 in the night. That was one of the best experiences for me while in Bombay. The Worli-Bandra sea link is simply majestic. The view is breath-taking and the buildings that you see from the bridge keep glittering in the night. The water keeps crashing with the stones and the sound is just amazing. And that night saw Bombay’s first rains of the season. Just incredible. That night would never have happened without my brother and his friends. Now, I am ready to leave this city which was my dream for so long not knowing when I will come back. Now I’ll have to look for a new dream. A dream as intense as this one. And I’m sure I’ll find one. Till then, I’ll go home, eat as much as I want to, sleep till late in the morning and relax.

  1. Mumbai is the city of dreams and it might pull towards itself like a magnet. or maybe Mumbai will give to you another dream, bigger than what you wanted.

    1. Mumbai gave me so much. I leave the city being a more confident woman and somebody who's just bowled over by the life that city leads. Just amazing. I wish to visit the city again and learn so much more. I loved the experience and will dream some more :-)

    1. Because nobody is perfect in this world....and we are all half baked..therefore our voices will be "half-baked"...
