Bombay has been fun but I got a chance to
get away from Bombay. This chance came when Radhika invited me to her aunt’s
place in Pune where she was going to stay for the weekend. I had never been to
Pune before and knowing the kind of inquisitor that I am, I wanted to see that
place. We had to leave on Sunday morning and get back on Monday morning. The
journey was a comfortable one and the Mumbai-Pune highway is one exception to
the otherwise badly maintained Maharashtra highways.

Poor English
Source: Google Images |
The other day I was in a CST bound local train. It was a
Saturday, so the train wasnt too crowded. A gujju man, probably a garment
trader (I overheard him talking to his suppliers on the phone), was complaining
to his wife, about their daughter's poor English skills. I gathered (using my
limited understanding of Gujarati) that he was returning from a Parent-Teachers
Meeting.
Parent -Child relationship
In the modern world of disintegrating
families, parent-child relationship has become an important matter. Parents
bring the child into the world and then it is their duty to take care of the
child in every possible way; first in the matter of health and diet and later
in the matter of education and getting established in life. It is true
that most of the parents do their best to bring up their children in the best
possible manner and if anything is found lacking , it is not often because of
any negligence or lack of will on their part but because of their lack of
knowledge or resources or both.

Cities and their lives
And
my story today, has become similar to many of those frustrated beings the world
holds today. I am inspired by buildings, which are erected in a day or two, and
by those which might take ages to be built. Yet the government goes on
promising the basics of livelihood to thousands every day/ month/ year..
I
like discussing about how cities are, and were always had the perfect
stories in all its pathways. I have walked down several roads
now... where I may or may not get the patterns of the cobblestone matching
themselves..

The New Course
Thumbs Down to DU’s Four year degree:
Being an ardent newspaper reader, I have
been continuously going through the latest Delhi University’s buzz about
introduction of four-year degree program with flexible exit options.
DU is the top educational destination for
students hailing from Asia and other countries of world. Teaching methodologies
adopted here are the best. A downside, however, is the infrastructure, but the
authorities keep working on the same with continued access of funds from
Government.

Endangered Species

I
sat down to relax after a week’s stay in the hospital. I could hear Aditi
learning for an entrance examination that was supposed to be held the next
morning. She said " A for Air conditioner, B for bugs, C for Car, D for
DVD” Yes, she was just 3 years old and had an entrance exam even to join LKG.
That reminded me of my KGs. My times were totally different.
I
told Aditi ”Baby! You know, we used to say this in a different way- A for
apple, B for Banana, C for Cat, D for Dog" and I laughed. She immediately
asked me a question that made me flick through all the calenders I had crossed.
She asked me " Dog? Cat? You mean the animals mom showed me in the zoo
last week? By the way, what is a Banana?"

Life's Musings
Life is a triumph, if
you have friends, good friends and best friends as they understand and
support you in every endeavour of life…
With friends and companions you enjoy and rejoice day to
day but when it’s dark you say a prayer; a prayer no one else knows except God,
Your Inner Soul and your Inner Voice…

Solitude addicts anonymous!
Work,
school, exams, office, overtime, delay in salary and many more... we walk over
the streets, wait for autos and buses while returning home with lots of sweat,
initially it seems like there is no time of feeling solitary and morbid but
it’s not always true.
I am talking about people who say they are lonely but that doesn’t exactly mean that they don’t have any work to do, they feel lonely while doing their regular work. We often hear people’s response towards solitude or loneliness as “If you feel lonely have some good friends or date someone” but is it really the way to keep away solitude from people who suffer from it or we can say addicted towards it?

Short Times
As I remember the industrial fiction of Charles
Dickens “Hard Times", I can say that it’s not hard times now; we could rather say its
“short times " .Especially people living in Metro-cities. Forget about
long walks, we people don't have time to talk for a while with each other even
if we stay in the same house; everything needs to be too fast.
