We like it free

The other day, I went to a standup comedy show  at Canvas Laugh Factory, Mumbai, to bring in my birthday in a laughing mode. It was the best start to my special day. As much as you enjoy laughing your guts out, the acts boost your creative juices as well.

Reality shows: Boon or Bane

Reality shows on television are the most happening things these days. Open your TV and you are sure to find at least one reality show if not many in every channel. I cannot exactly pinpoint the first reality show that happened in India or the west but my earliest memories of a show on TV which wasn’t made according to a fixed written script (although reality shows are scripted to an extent) are the famous Amitabh Bacchan hosted quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, the dance show Boogie Woogie and the music talent hunt Saregamapa which I watched as a kid. But then, how exactly do you define these? Do we call them reality shows or are they mere competitions?

Humanity switch on, switch off

Humanity: Switch On, Switch Off

The humane side of humans is quite confusing. Most of us are not that bad. But most of us are often too lazy or uninformed or busy. So on March 20 2014, another train derailment happened in Mumbai. Yeah, I already wrote about it in my blog. But this time, I decided to voice my concern again.

Revelations

What I am espousing here is a complete personal belief from personal experiences. Let’s do one thing before we move any further. Let’s have an open mind and agree to disagree ( if required).

Firstly, I am in love with Fray because I am listening to this band right now and trust me, all these realizations, stipulations and those awaited understandings which I was trying to find since so long, you know those consolations you give yourself at the end of every situation-gone-wrong or ‘the moral of the story’ you try to find, coupled with Fray’s music is making my life right now a complete A-rated sitcom’s episode.
Here are few stipulations. My motive is to put my foot down here and say- Believe in these things because I think once in a while they are TRUE and applicable!

The do's and dont's

Prerna was flipping through her elder brother’s magazine while she waited for him; it was the only magazine with cute guys on the cover. ‘Ask Men’, the title seemed appropriate, for she had innumerable questions to ask to men. She was about to keep down the magazine when she found an article titled ‘Do I? Or Don’t I?’ this caught her interest and she turned the pages to open the article.

Marriage is a huge step, a step which simultaneously changes two people and everything that is around them and one can never know for sure if he or she is ready to get married. So why one should get married? Here are 5 reasons to tie the knot.

Victorian Architecture

The Victorian Age, the period between mid 1800s to the beginning of 1900’s, is significant because of the sense of dizzying change it is characterized by.  This era witnessed some form of change in every imaginable sphere of life- technology, literature, art, woman rights, religious beliefs, fashion, social structure et al. Rashmi looked at the snooze clock and woke up with a start.  Rishi will be back from his jog anytime now! ‘Oh God, I am late!’

She slipped into her fur sandals and ran to the bathroom while running a continuous mind-check! Brush my teeth.. scrub my face  .. take a quick bath. Aannd.. done! She was used to getting done up quickly. And more so when she had little time! If looks could kill, so could she!
