When life gives you lemons

Ingredients:

·         1/2 lime
·         1/2 cup grapes
·         apple (cored and sliced)
·         One 1/2 inch fresh ginger
·         1 cup water (sparkling)

Directions
:
Juice Grapes, apples and ginger together and add lime juice of half a lemon. Pour in your favourite glass and fill to the top with a cup of sparkling water. Add a slice of lemon on the side and Voila!

Shania put the glass up to her lips and the twang from her favourite drink lifted her spirits. As she lay in the bean bag with her legs crossed on the balcony railing, she watched the sun go down and thought with a chuckle, another heated affair with the Sun has come to an end!

Her reverie was broken by her best friend Rahul who came in looking crestfallen.

“Hey Shania! What’s up?”

“Hey Chipkali! Look you again came creeping up behind me! And hey, why so serious?”

“I have been laid off!”

“Tell me you’re not joking. You were anyways too good for that worm-hole of an office!”

“Oh C’mon Shania. Dad always wanted me to make a successful businessman. And here I am. Laid off at the junior level.”

“Says something of your motivation level, you dork! Why don’t you actually do something you are good at!”

“But I don’t really know what I am good at. Here, give me some of that!”, said Rahul, taking the drink from Shania’s hand. ‘It’s actually good. How did you make it!’

‘It doesn’t matter. As long as you love what’s in your hands, it really doesn’t matter!’

‘Dad will kill me..’, continued Rahul with a wispy look.

‘Don’t worry. You just tell him you are going off on company trip. You need to take a break and clear your head. High time you knew what you wanted from Life. Like, grow up, man!’, Said Shania. Sometimes this sweet friend of her thick-and-thin made her feel so impatient, and specially when he sounded like he had no direction in Life.

The next morning Shania drove Rahul to Ooty, hoping to divert his attention from his meaningless loss. Shit! The sleepy head! When will he know Time is not a privilege but a drop-line credit facility on compounded interest terms? He who understands it earns from it, and he who doesn’t.. pays it!

The cool morning breeze was playing with their hair slowly waking up their spirits. As the car drove to a halt at the edge of the mountain, they walked out of the car and sat on the rock facing the horizon. Shanaya & Rahul. They had been friends for fifteen years and had always come to this spot when one of them needed a perspective. It was Rahul’s turn today.

“You know what Shania, Dad always wanted me to be a very successful businessman and earn lots of money.”

Shania let Rahul roll on with his ramblings.

“But ever since I can recall, I was fascinated with words. Dad never let me read books. But I love words. Shania.” Rahul continued with a desperation.. “You know, I could look at something and be lost in it. Become one with it. Feel with it. Flow in it. Like right now I can drink in this beautiful sunrise. I can drown in it and not come up for air.. I can..”

“You can.. continue with your love for words Rahul! You should live it!” .. She hugged her best friend and said, “Don’t let it go, you will be a success with what you Love, just go for it!”

In losing his job, Rahul had found his calling in Life.
